The Wallonia Foreign Trade and Investment Agency of the Kingdom of Belgium and the Investment Promotion Agency of Ministry of Commerce of China (here-in-after referred to as ‘both parties’) reaffirm the existing strong cooperative relationship in two-way investment promotion between our two countries.
The objective of this Memorandum of Understanding is to identify areas of enhanced cooperation in both Wallonia’s investment to China and China’s investment to Wallonia Region of the Kingdom of Belgium under the framework of Sino-Belgian Economic Cooperation Joint Committee.
Nominated areas include:
Information exchange and potential investor referral:
Both parties will jointly establish and promote the smooth information exchange channels with the view to communicate the following information:
Investment policies and regulations
Investment environment
Information on potential investors and their credit status, investment conditions and requirement of existing investors
Two-way investment promotion activities
Working mechanism for investment promotion
Both parties will provide necessary information and services for investors and investment partners.
Investment promotion activities include:
Relevant company information and contacts
Investment seminars
Two-way investment promotion missions
Participation in trade and investment fairs
Links between the investment websites of the signatory organizations, jointly holding various investment promotion activities on line
Other investment promotion activities including project seeking, package and promotion of investment projects
Key industry sector priorities;
Key sector of China’s investment to Wallonia Region of the Kingdom of Belgium: logistics, life sciences, mechanical engineering, agro-food industry, aeronautic & aerospace industries.
Key sector of Wallonia Region of the Kingdom of Belgium’s investment to China: chemicals, mechanical engineering, agro-food industry.
Annual meetings
Both parties will meet annually to review progress and discuss bilateral investment facilitation to achieve increased foreign direct investment between Wallonia Region of the Kingdom of Belgium and China.
SIGNED at Beijing on October 23rd, 2006.
This Memorandum has two versions, one in Chinese, and the other in English. Both English and Chinese language versions of this Memorandum are equally authentic.
